Shrouded

Shrouded

The air is thin here
among the musk and dirt
my body veiled in cloth.
I'd prefer not to be.
There's a nakedness I crave
that isn't available to all.
This nakedness, this madness is divinity
hoarded with chocolates and tea.
There's incessant knocking knocking
pounding and glass shattering
I open my hands and teeter this way and that
until the urge is gone
leaving my nakedness unveiled
and the air normal

About the Author

Saschia Johnson writes poetry, creative non-fiction, short stories, and screen plays. On her free time Saschia likes to be with her family hiking outdoors and traveling. New England is her home and place of birth. When asked what she wants to teach the world she replied, "Don't stop searching. Too many times, in my old life, I put my search aside for more 'important matters.' I didn't realize the thing I was searching for held what was most important; my soul purpose." Saschia works daily improving her craft and at times can get down on herself, but her favorite morning mantra is "It's a new day." And that's what she strives to start with every morning. You can find her writing on Jayne. Press. She writes because there isn't any other medium she's felt such a strong connection with. Her need to write greatly surpasses her desire to write.
